The decision to change: summary
All 3 mathematics departments introduced mixed ability teaching for their year 7 students but with different rationale and decision making processes deciding on such change: some based this on research which says that low-attaining students do better in mixed-ability classes; some felt that everyone would start without the burden of prior expectations; some chose it because it eased timetabling constraints (for details click here)
