Teachers discussed the meaning of writing, not the amount but as the recording needed to complete a task

Some teachers did not ask PLAS to do much written work as it was an obstacle, whereas other teachers felt that writing helped organise their thinking. The emphasis of most teachers was on recording as it arises as necessary for the task - not 'written work as finished product'. Teachers felt confident enough to support their views when outside authorities might judge them by the amount of written work being generated.
