Feelings about mathematics
Interview 1: n = 41
Interview 2: n = 33
Interview 3: n = 33
Overall at the end of year 8 only 1 student of the total reported feeling very negative or negative about mathematics, compared with 8 students about year 6 and 4 for year 7.
At the other end of the spectrum the number of students who reported feeling very happy about mathematics went down from 8 reporting on year 6; 7 for year 7; 2 in year 8.
Feelings were 'measured' using smileys. The modal class in year 6 was 'slight smile', year 7 started as 'neutral' and ended as 'slight smile', year 8 mode was 'slight smile'. The dip to neutral was influenced by data from one school. Interestingly, this was in the school that had most team difficulties.
