Engagement and relationships
Evidence of strong and purposeful relationships can be seen in the clips, but not of course how those relationships have been established. In B3 there is a moving sequence in which the teacher coaxes a student towards an answer which reveals that the student is doing more than merely filling gaps in the teacher's words. We got a sense that for this to take place in front of the camera required trust on both sides. Later, clip B4 reveals more about the quality of relationships and also that the school context allows joyfulness to be expressed in typically adolescent ways. In T1, we see that students are allowed choice and movement as relevant. In S2 and N1 we see the value of physical engagement to include many students, and also to provide physical memories to be used as images in later work. In N3 it seems that students are able to participate in different ways, and the task and discussion points are the same for all students but the teaching input has been different.
